It would expire before the 2022 season. So the year in ( ) is the year that they are a free agent.

Gotcha.  Thanks.

I'm working on a bidding system for free agents. So of course, I want your opinions.

Should there just be one round of bidding and whoever bids the highest wins?
Should there be multiple phases of bidding? Each team makes one bid during that time frame?

Any other ideas that you guys might have when it comes to signing free agents via a bidding system?

Not sure how, but think you need multiple rounds....maybe some thing like 5 highest paid players at each position for rd 1, 6-10 rd 2 , and the. Everyone else for rd 3??? So if you miss in a star you can still try and sign somebody.

I like the sound of that. Then owners don't get screwed and miss out on everyone, and you don't have teams that sign a bunch of players and then have to get under the cap. You can build a strategy to get the guys you want.

I need to come up with the cap rules too. I really don't want to have teams signing 10 free agents and then having to cut everyone on their team to get under the cap. Maybe a limit of how much money you can bid based on your current cap position?

Plus no injuries makes it rough, can I have a roster that only has 20 people on it, because that's all I need to play?? DO AAA/LOW players count against salary cap?

RE: Finance Beta - jcbarr - 05-20-2020

There will absolutely have to be minimum roster requirements. I'm thinking that everyone in ACT and AAA will count towards the cap for sure. I'm still thinking about how to handle the players in LOW. Do we just set them to the league minimum or do we do something else? I don't want to penalize a team for having a LOW minors system, but I also don't want to reward them for keeping players in LOW that should be promoted.

New request...

While we are waiting for the results of the next sim, lets test out the free agent bidding process.

Please take some time to visit your financial pages and bid on some free agents. Let me know how the process goes. What seems to work, what doesn't work? Are you happy with the functionality, does it need work? Is something missing? Does something need to be added?

Any feedback at all is good feedback, so please give it.

Here is a link to a "how to" document that I have created to help out with the process.

There were some pitchers listed as “offers not available” on other teams when I got into the page??

RE: Finance Beta - jcbarr - 06-14-2020

Can you take a screenshot of what you see so I can investigate? I'll check to see if they show up like that for me as well.
