Finance Beta - jcbarr - 04-27-2020 I sent out PMs about a beta for a salary cap like system that I am coding at the moment. Check your PMs and let me know if you have any issues accessing the page. Thanks guys! RE: Finance Beta - ksubarton - 04-28-2020 accessed everything just fine... Sure looks like the financials are tipped very heavily towards the offense however..as my best pitching is seeking less that 2 mill, and I've got several hitters in the 4,5,7,10 million range. RE: Finance Beta - jcbarr - 04-28-2020 Yeah, still trying to find a good way to value relief pitchers. Starters aren't too bad, but relievers get no love. RE: Finance Beta - jcbarr - 04-28-2020 Updated the calculation for pitchers again. This time I set the limit to 25 IP. If they didn't have at least that, then they are asking for the league minimum which is $250,000. Definitely looks better now. RE: Finance Beta - jcbarr - 04-28-2020 Added a salary summary page for the league; http://thecbl.ddns.net/cap_summary.php RE: Finance Beta - ksubarton - 04-29-2020 looks better....how was contract length determined?? RE: Finance Beta - Greg - 04-29-2020 What happens with everyone being over the cap? RE: Finance Beta - Ryno - 04-29-2020 Question: do the numbers in parentheses include that season? I.e. if a guy's contract is set to expire in 2022 is that January 2022 or December 2022? Comment: On the ratings for pitchers you have SI listed twice. I assume the second one is supposed to be SL. And yeah what Greg said. I'm shown as being over the cap for the next two seasons. Guess I need to make some cuts then? RE: Finance Beta - jcbarr - 04-29-2020 All good questions, let me start by saying this; None of this is in play right now. No one needs to worry about making any cuts or extending contracts at the moment. I'll look in to the ratings for the pitchers, you are probably right, it should be SL more than likely. I'll get that fixed right away. Contract length was randomly determined. I just had the script pick a random number between 1 and 6. These are not finalized, like everything else, just testing some things. Numbers in the ( ) include that year. If it is red the salary is over and if it is green that is how much room is left. The $50 million was just an arbitrary number that I started with. That will certainly need to be adjusted, as just about every team is over the cap, and some of them are over the cap for the next five years with their initial rosters. Trying to figure out how to determine contact length when players are extended, and what happens when they hit the open market. If you have any ideas on how that might or should look, I'm all ears. RE: Finance Beta - Ryno - 04-29-2020 Thanks. I meant the numbers next to an individual player. So if for instance Benny Rodriguez has a line that reads "2 years @ 3.5 mill (2022)" does that mean his contract expires before or after the 2022 season? In other words, does the 2 years mean 2020 and 2021 or 2021 and 2022? |
